Orders for dual-fuel LNG vessels broke all records in 2021 with a total of 240 ships globally. That is greater than the previous four years combined. And progress looks set to continue unabated in 2022.
According to knowledge from classification society DNV, orders for fifty six dual-fuel LNG vessels have been positioned in January and February.This change in demand has created quite a buzz at Svanehøj. The Danish marine pump specialist quadrupled sales of its patented deepwell gas pumps in 2021, and there are numerous indications that sales may increase even further in 2022.
Svanehøj has simply secured an order for gas pump methods for 15 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (7,000 TEU), that are to be built at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding. The whole of 30 deepwell gasoline pumps might be delivered from August 2022 to January 2024. The order is amongst Svanehøj’s largest regarding LNG fuel so far. It is the second time within the final year that this customer has chosen Svanehøj because the supplier of LNG fuel pump methods. In July 2021, they signed a contract for deepwell pumps for 10 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (15,000 TEU).
“Until a few years in the past, the use of LNG as a marine gas was restricted to LNG carriers and smaller ships. But we at the moment are seeing a sharp increase in gasoline pump orders for deep sea vessels similar to container ships and automobile carriers. We were chosen because the supplier of gasoline pump methods for over 50% of the dual-fuel LNG container vessels ordered globally in 2020-21. And we purpose to extend our market share additional in the coming years”, says Johnny Houmann, Chief Sales Officer, Svanehøj.
Large investment in lean manufacturing and new gear
To support the green transition of the maritime trade, Svanehøj is currently investing greater than DKK 10 million in upgrading its production amenities in Denmark. A new factory structure with manufacturing cells and robotics will help Svanehøj’s bold growth strategy and reduce lead times for all merchandise.
