According to knowledge from classification society DNV, orders for 56 dual-fuel LNG vessels have been positioned in January and February.This change in demand has created quite a buzz at Svanehøj. The Danish marine pump specialist quadrupled sales of its patented deepwell gasoline pumps in 2021, and there are heaps of indications that sales may improve even further in 2022.
Svanehøj has just secured an order for gas pump methods for 15 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (7,000 TEU), that are to be constructed at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding. The total of 30 deepwell fuel pumps shall be delivered from August 2022 to January 2024. The order is amongst Svanehøj’s largest regarding LNG fuel to date. It is the second time inside the last 12 months that this customer has chosen Svanehøj because the provider of LNG gas pump systems. In July 2021, they signed a contract for deepwell pumps for 10 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (15,000 TEU).
“Until a few years ago, the use of LNG as a marine gasoline was limited to LNG carriers and smaller ships. But we are actually seeing a sharp improve in gas pump orders for deep sea vessels such as container ships and automotive carriers. We were chosen as the provider of fuel pump techniques for over 50% of the dual-fuel LNG container vessels ordered globally in 2020-21. And we goal to extend our market share additional within the coming years”, says Johnny Houmann, Chief Sales Officer, Svanehøj.
Large funding in lean manufacturing and new equipment
To support the green transition of the maritime trade, Svanehøj is presently investing greater than DKK 10 million in upgrading its manufacturing facilities in Denmark. A new manufacturing facility format with manufacturing cells and robotics will assist Svanehøj’s bold development strategy and scale back lead times for all merchandise.
